Unisinos is located in São Leopoldo, an important economical and industrial zone in the Sinos Valley, 25 minutes far from Porto Alegre, the capital city of Rio Grande do Sul State. Colonized by German immigrants, São Leopoldo is a living memory of its ancestors. Its steelwork industries, shoe factories and entertainment options best describe the city, where the main gathering place is Rua Grande, a street where the most outstanding local restaurants and bars are located.
It is in this environment that Unisinos is situated, a university in its 35 years of experience and with 28 thousands students in its undergraduate and graduate courses. Among others, the most notable aspect of the university is its relation with the community. UNISINOS plays an important role in the regional development and, in a broader perspective, in the formation of people who make the difference.
